The Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana is one of the most important monuments of the Orthodox faith in Albania and a symbol of the spiritual revival of the Albanian Autocephalous Orthodox Church after decades of religious suppression. Built between 2002 and 2012, it is located in the heart of the capital near Skanderbeg Square and represents a complete religious and cultural complex.
The main building of the cathedral stands out for its modern architecture, inspired by Byzantine tradition, featuring a majestic dome that symbolizes the heavens and is spectacularly illuminated at night. Inside, carefully crafted frescoes and mosaics depict biblical scenes, while the wooden iconostasis is a rare work of art. In addition to the liturgical space, the complex also includes an amphitheater, a church museum, a conference hall, and facilities for cultural and youth activities.
The cathedral is open to both local and international visitors seeking to explore the history, art, and spiritual traditions of Albanian Orthodoxy. It represents a beautiful harmony between faith, culture, and the contemporary architecture of modern Tirana.
