The National History Museum is the largest and most important museum institution in Albania, located in the heart of Tirana at Skanderbeg Square. Opened in 1981, the museum aims to preserve, study, and present the history of the Albanian people from antiquity to the present day. Its façade is distinguished by a monumental mosaic. “Shqipëria”, një vepër ikonike që simbolizon rrugëtimin historik të kombit.

Inside the museum, there are several thematic pavilions, including the Antiquity Pavilion, the Middle Ages Pavilion, the National Renaissance Pavilion, the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War Pavilion, the Communist Persecution Pavilion, and the Mother Teresa Pavilion. The exhibits feature thousands of archaeological and ethnographic objects, historical documents, photographs, and artifacts that showcase Albania’s identity and cultural development throughout the centuries.

The museum offers visitors a comprehensive overview of Albanian history, making each pavilion a journey through time. It is a must-visit destination for anyone wishing to understand the roots, challenges, and achievements of the Albanian people.
