The Clock Tower is one of Tirana’s most well-known and beloved monuments, located near Skanderbeg Square, opposite the Et’hem Bey Mosque. It was built in the early 19th century by the prominent Toptani family and for many years was the tallest building in the city, serving as a symbol of Tirana’s development and identity.
Originally, the tower’s clock was brought from Venice, while the stone structure was built with contributions from local residents. Over time, the Clock Tower has undergone several restorations, yet it has retained its distinctive oriental style and historical elegance, setting it apart from the modern buildings around it.
From its top, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of central Tirana, making it a favorite destination for tourists who want to see the city from above. Today, the Clock Tower remains a symbol of tradition and continuity in the capital, connecting Tirana’s historic past with its contemporary rhythm.
